Today the Rock Star has plummeted. It is to be expected after the intense chemo that he received last week. The clinic called to check on him and his Thursday visit is being moved up to tomorrow so we can see the oncologist that we primarily see. I will not be surprised if he will need a transfusion tomorrow his energy is so low. We have watched lots of movies today. We did eat at Cicis pizza for lunch.
This afternoon we also got to visit the local playground because David begged, but walking from the car to the playground was too much for him. While Kyle entertained hope on the playground I sat with David on my lap under the shade tree. He was playing with my phone and he is so good at navigating it, he turned on David Crowder's How He Loves Us. I got so emotional sitting there with sweet Dave listening to that beautiful song. It reminded this scared and weary Momma that our Jesus does indeed loves us. He knows my heart is broken over the fact that my boy cannot run and play like other kids, he knows that i am weary from my nursing duties, and that sometimes I just want to have a pity party. Today God used my sweet boy and an iPhone to remind me that He loves me and that He is with us every moment.
He loved me and you enough to die on that cross so many years ago and this year Easter is so much more intimate to me. I can hardly think about what he endured on that cross and I get goose bumps thinking that that tomb could not contain my Jesus. He indeed loves us all so much.
I will update tomorrow after his clinic visit! We hope to head home soon, but we are enjoying our time at Camp Pendleton.

Random Monday News
I am flying solo here in Charlottesville today. MiKe is home working and heading to bible study tonight. The kids and I have had some fun in between our nursing duties. We play a while and then rest for Dave. I can tell that his counts are dropping because his energy level has really decreased today. We went to watch the movie the Lorax today and I had to carry him out of the theatre. This morning we hit Penn park to play, and it smacked me in the face how "sick" Dave looks next to his peers. Cancer is so sneaky that it smacks you in the face when you least expect it.
We really did enjoy the movie The Lorax. It has such a great message about the environment. I am also enjoying my online sermons on the life of Joseph. He was somewhere he did not want to be when his brothers sold him into slavery, and that is a story that gives me such hope and encouragement through this nightmare. As a family we are learning to praise God despite our situation.
Kyle is keeping in touch with his friends via FaceTime at home, and he seems to be enjoying our time here at camp Pendleton. He has enjoyed the driving range at Penn Park and we are all anxious for Mike to join us here. Hope and David are enjoying the playground, but just walking from the car to the playground wipes him out. It is heartbreaking to watch him sit down and say "tired."
David has a clinic visit Thursday, so we will see how his counts are and if it is safe to return home. His first g shot went beautifully last night and I successfully gave it to him while he slept. That is truly a miracle!

Palm Sunday
This Palm Sunday is about making lemonade out of lemons. No, we did not get to attend church today, no we did not get to attend the Down Syndrome Easter egg hunt that we stuffed the eggs for, and yes we missed out on some wonderful fellowship at the easter egg hunt, but we were together as a family.
But that is okay because one of the many life lessons that cancer has taught us is to enjoy every minute. So, we are blooming where we are planted for this season in our life. Blessedly we have this awesome condo which is allowing us to be together.
The boys hit the driving range and practiced their golf swings at nearby Penn Park while the girls hit the playground. We love getting out to enjoy the sunshine!
Kyle is getting pretty good at his golf swing
and blessedly they had a chair for David to sit in and cheer them on. He has felt great today and eaten well so we are so thankful. Tonight we start the dreaded G shots, so please pray for us!!!
So today we are blooming where we are planted and enjoying our spring break at Camp Pendleton. Mike is going to be on the road a lot this week traveling between here and home. Despite the fact that the schools are on spring break does not mean that he is off. He has several important meetings to attend as well as check on the construction progress of our new school. He has a lot on his plate and I admire him so much for juggling it all well.
My dear friend, Sarah, told me about an online sermon series from Max Lucado that I have enjoyed so much on the life of Joseph. It is called "You'll get Through This" and they are wonderful! I have listened/watched 2 of the 12. Go to www.oakhillschurch.com and click on media. All the twelve sermons will be there even with an intro for the series. They have encouraged me so much and I highly recommend them if you are going through something difficult or just want to study more about the life of Joseph.
We have some germ-free fun planned for this week. David has a clinic appointment Thursday so we will see how that goes before we decide when we will return home to southwest Virginia. We miss our friends, but we are trying to be vigilant about David's health:) Happy Palm Sunday!
