News and Ads

Have you noticed anything different on the blog?  We have allowed google to advertise on our blog.  We have had mixed emotions about allowing this, but we are going to try it for a month and see how it goes.  Basically revenue is generated from these ads and we plan to use all of the money that is generated to donate to our local health foundation to help purchase the chemo mixer for our local hospital.

We know that the chemo mixer will not directly benefit David and his treatment but as a family we see how beneficial the mixer would be to our friends, neighbors, and coworkers that need this service.  For us, once David's labs come back that all is well for chemo, it is mixed "downstairs" at UVA wherever that is and sent right up.  We do not have to wait that long for it.  Here if chemo is needed, a courier brings it from another hospital 30 minutes away.  We would love for our blog to have a hand in helping raise the funds for the mixer so that chemo patients' treatment can be expedited here locally.  Chemo patients need to be home resting and recovering after their treatment, not sitting in a clinic waiting on their necessary drugs to be sent.

We really worried that ads would take away from the intimacy of the blog and we also worried about what products would be advertised on the blog since we know lots of pre-teens and children read our blog with their parents, but we also felt that if the blog could be used to help our local community then it will be worth a try.  We are open to honest feedback!

We are off to pack for another treatment week:)  We are so excited that David's counts are way high and that we can get in treatment #13 this week!! Sadly he will get three different drugs tomorrow, but the awesome news is that we will get a break for weeks #14 and 15!!  That sounds like pure heaven to us to get to stay home and allow David's body a break from this grueling regimen.  Praise the Lord!

We are also working hard on our memory verse for the week.

Psalm 1:1-2

Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers.  But his delight is in the law of the Lord and on his law he meditates day and night.

We desperately want our children to understand that God cares about who our friends are!  He cares who we associate with and this verse is such a great way to teach that concept.  We have it on a dry erase board in our kitchen so that we all can see it and talk about it.  Kyle cannot rattle it off yet, but he definitely knows what it  means and that God wants him to have Godly friends!!  Thursday evening when I come home, I plan to have a little friendly competition and see who can rattle it off better-me or Mike!  Ha!  This family is very competitive so we will use that for good!:)

Thanks in advance for praying us through another treatment tomorrow:)  We are so fortunate to have such a strong support system to get us through each and every treatment!
