Our Magical Night With David Crowder

I am one tired Momma and as I write this sleeping beauty David is still in dreamland dreaming about our magical night with David Crowder.

David's choice of dinner before the show was Wendy's:)  It was his night so despite all my other suggestions, we ate at Wendys.
We arrived at 6 for the meet and greet.  Unfortunately that had been moved until after the show so we were there way early for the 7:30 show.  The blessing of getting there early and David's desire to run helped us score FRONT ROW seats!!  We could not believe it. While we waited for the show we bought a tshirt, ate some M&M's, met new friends, and anxiously awaited the show.
Amazingly some amazing youth from Royal Oak Prebyterian were sitting right behind us and thanks to Kate, Olivia, and Lyndsey for being so sweet to David.
After the opening act (who was really good but David was put out that he had to wait longer for David Crowder) he finally came on stage!  This is how close we really were-no need for a zoom lens when you are this close.
David actually took this picture!  The concert was unbelievable!  We danced, sang, clapped, and I was genuinely sad when it was over.  It was a cozy and intimate setting and David Crowder is really hilarious with his random stories.
After the show, we finally got to do the meet and greet.  David was ecstatic and we waited patiently and he finally got to meet him!!!!

Two matching David's!!!  He was so sweet and kind with David and as promised David  invited him over to our house to play xbox:)  It was such a special end to a wonderful evening!
David did dress to impress in his shirt and tie and David Crowder was impressed with his sense of style and fashion:)

During the opening few songs, David wore me out asking for How He Loves and finally about five songs in we heard the familiar opening chords to the song and David jumped up and started dancing and praising.  I could not watch the show for watching my boy enjoy his all-time favorite song!

Thank you to the Moorers for making this special night happen for us.  I will never forget this special night praising our God with my boy who reminded us all how much we are loved by God.

Dear David Crowder

Hello, My name is David Robinson.  I am really excited because I have tickets to meet you tomorrow night in Bristol.  I can't wait to meet you. A special friend bought the tickets for me and my Mom and she is as excited as I am.

Let me tell you a little about myself.  I am eight years old and God made me extra super special.  I have Down Syndrome which means that I have designer chromosomes and I am super cool.  I love music, especially yours and I have taught a lot of people about Jesus because of your music.

In November of 2011 I had a belly ache that would not go away.  My Mom took me to the ER where they found a big tumor in my kidney.  I rode an ambulance to UVA children's hospital where I had my kidney removed as well as my adrenal gland.   The doctor said I had a stage four Wilm's tumor which made my Mom and Dad cry really hard.

After that surgery in November 2011, I had nine months of intense chemo and radiation.  I  was very sick and spent lots of weeks in UVA hospital.

To keep me occupied and happy I used a laptop or Ipad to listen to your music.  I made many hospital staff members sing along with me to my favorite song "How He Loves Us."  Lots of people know about you at UVA because I sang so many of your songs while I was in the hospital.

Even after chemo took all of my hair and made me very very sick, I still kept singing and praising God.  My Mom said that I am a very brave warrior and that God is using me to teach people how much God loves us all.

Click on the link below to hear me singing your song in the hospital the night after I was medflighted back to the hospital when my port-a-cath got infected and I was REALLY sick.

My mom says I sing like an angel when I sing along with you:)
I have watched almost all of your videos on youtube and I also love the song O Praise Him!

This was the day that I was very sick and all these doctors and people were working hard to keep me healthy.  As you can see I was not bothered with them and I kept on singing along with you.

I finished my chemo back in July and now thanks to God I am strong and healthy.  My latest scan said the cancer is staying far away which makes us all very happy.  I cannot wait to meet you in person!

Love,
David

p.s. My Mom might get a little teary when we finally meet because we have been singing your songs almost a year.  She cries when they sing your songs during church.  She might embarrass me, but just know I am cool.

Picture Catchup

Thank you all for your kind words, emails, comments, and facebook messages regarding my last post. We know that David is fearfully and wonderfully made and that our God has and will continue to use David to remind us all what is truly important in this life.   Sadly there are just going to be instances in our lives that painfully remind us that David is not always going to excel in earthly things like standardized tests because as our friend and David's music teacher, Mrs. Gates reminded us that "there is nothing standardized about David."

My heart is much lighter so I am finally catching up with some fun pictures that have been on my phone.  Ashley and I have started taking the kids to the Wellness Center on Wednesday nights for swim nights.  The kids LOVE It so much!
My pictures are out of order, but here is Kyle's thumb after a long day of AAU hoops yesterday.  He jammed his thumb and we were going to take him to the ER but we are icing it and have placed it in a splint until his doctor is open tomorrow.  I hate to go to the ER because I would hate to go for a simple finger and get the flu that is so rampant this time of year.
Back to our swimming adventure...my children with the help of Ashley have learned how to play chicken and they LOVE It.  Hope is fearless in in the water and David is slowly remembering that he can swim after being out of the water for almost a year due to tubes and cancer.

Last Thursday Hope's little preschool class went to Hope's gymnastics center for a fun field trip.  It was such a ball and Hope loved having an extra gymnastics class in her week.  When we got there, Hope started stripping her clothes off to get to her leotard that was on underneath.  One of the more hysterical boys in the class looked at Hope stripping down to her leotard and said "I ain't going to do this if we have to get naked" I love my job.
Hope and her friends bear crawling...
Hope and Sydney stretching!  These two love each other so much.
Playing the run and freeze game.
Pure joy in this precious face.

Speaking of pure joy, today David and I were gifted with a huge blessing and I am so excited for this Friday night.  Ashley, Matt, Matt's sister, Ginny, and Matt's Mom, Mrs. Moorer handed me a brown envelope in church this morning.  I started crying as soon as I opened up the envelope and saw two tickets to David Crowder's concert this Friday night in Bristol.

Not only do the tickets include admission, but there is a meet and greet before the show where we can meet David Crowder.  I can hardly type these words I am so excited.  We have it on video of me telling David and he runs through the house he is so excited.  What an amazing gift from some amazing people and we are so excited and overwhelmed.  David face-to-face with David Crowder is so exciting!!!!

In other exciting news, we have finally heard from make-a-wish and it looks like David's wish to go to Disney is going to happen this July!!  We are still working out details but we are over the moon excited to think about this precious week together as a family.

We feel so overwhelmed in gratitude for the evening with David Crowder this Friday, for fun family times like our Wednesday night swims, and for our God who uses anything he can to remind us all how much He loves us.
