Today was a full day for sweet Rock Star. We were in clinic for over six hours for him to receive a blood transfusion and fluids. Sad to say, but yesterday's dose of chemo has wiped out our little guy. He had lots of diarrhea and some dry heaving today. His oncologist took a sample to test for CDiff so we will get the results back tomorrow.
Because we have been blessed with the use of this condo only ten minutes away from the hospital is why we were not admitted today. Thank you Barry and Bonnie that we we are here and not in the hospital tonight. I was told that if his diarrhea does not stop soon or his fever spikes tonight then we must go in to the ER because he can dehydrate quickly. If all is well tonight we have another appointment for tomorrow at 10:00 am.
He has never really been this sick from the chemo so we are wondering if it is a virus, CDiff, or if it is the compounding effect of all the chemo his body has had. He is asleep now on the couch. We are both wiped out from a long day in the clinic. We took the staff a small cake to celebrate nurses week which was last week. The staff at the clinic is so wonderful and they truly treat you like family. I am so thankful for the compassionate care that we have received.
Mike will e joining e late Thursday night so we can go together for his scan on Friday. Thankfully they are sedating him for this scan so he will be cooperative and they can get a good look at those lungs. We are on the home stretch and I see a light at the end of the tunnel. Thanks to Mike Davidson who brought me a huge suitcase of clothes today!! He was coming up for a conference and offered to relay anything from home. I had only packed one nights clothes because I never dreamed he would be so sick and we would need to stay. Kyle is at home with Mike and Hope is in Radford with GG and Pops. I hate that we are all spread out, but this soon will be a distant memory :)
